New design in the works! Neon binding with either hand-painted neon lace, or deer!
$40 each. More cushions to come, shortly!
It was so much fun to make these, as the designs have been floating around my head for ages!
Make something for yourself!
Anyone who makes things for other people (whether paid or unpaid) will understand how your own projects very often get placed at the bottom of the bottomless to do list. That sacred, untouchable part of the list that just gets added to the next list ad infinitum. So this weekend I decided to challenge myself to make my OWN cushions for MY couch. Revolutionary!
Result – I did it! So glad that I took the time to do this for me. It’s all part of finding that perfect balance.
Now… Back to making cushions for other folks!
Yours, cloudishly

In 50 days I’m going on a massive South American adventure! ACE! I have so much to do before then but it’s all worth it to have an excellent break!
I’m always guilty of having a few too many ideas for what is practical/financially viable. I’ve had to divide my Cumulus Factory Plan into PRE-travel and POST-travel. Here is what I’m thinking at the moment…
Pre-travel:
During travel:
Post-travel:
Three exciting things to note.
1) ETSY SALE! 20% off all ready-made cushions, tote bags and stickers in my Etsy shop. Use the code: SALEFORNOREASON – Valid until Sunday 28th April.
2) I hit 500 instagram followers!!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
3) I’ll be taking custom cushion and bag orders until May 16th – 1 month later I’ll be heading off on a giant long-awaited trip to South America! If you’ve been thinking about ordering a custom cushion, have a look at my Etsy shop or instrgram account for some inspiration! You can use the custom order form.
These facts may or may not be connected.
Very exciting times over here in The Cumulus Factory 😀

I recently whipped up a hummingbird pattern based on this very old drawing by Gould. It’s his drawing of the Hummingbirds ‘Amazilia yucatanensis’, a.k.a. the Buff-bellied Hummingbird.
I’m having it turned into fabric with Spoonflower (exciting!) and while I’m eagerly awaiting the fabric arrival, I thought I should do something a little productive… Desktop/ iPad / iPhone backgrounds!
I love hummingbirds, and all birds really. It just so happened that this mirrored/repeated pattern came up SPLENDID-LIKE! I can’t go keeping a thing like that to myself – Below I’ve included the various sizes of patterns – feel free to share/download/use/enjoy!
If you want any other sizes, let me know!

Norwegian Cloud!
My gorgeous friend Hege finally received her Olive Oil Cloud Cushion in the mail – we decided to send it via a 3-4 month ocean voyage… Oh the places it’s been!
And now it’s safe and sound in Norge. Enjoy it Hege!
I ordered 3 yards of fabric from Spoonflower a few weeks ago. One of those yards (the Pineapples) is almost gone! So I decided it was time to place a 2nd order. It COULD have got out of hand but I was fairly restrained…
That’s what’s going on in the Cumulus Factory! I can’t wait to get the fabric order 😀
Do you have a favourite?
The other day I had my very first Etsy sale! What a rush! It was a custom request for Teal/Grey cloud cushion. The customer was kind enough to send me a photo of her stunning apartment, with the cloud cushion in situ.
I’ve also had a word-of-mouth referral for 2 cushions, from a friend of a customer in Melbourne. Very excited to sew up these custom orders!
Which leads me to my next point… I’ve been imagining a kind of ‘visual custom order form’ for a while but I didn’t quite have the technical know-how to make one myself. I stumbled across 123 Contact Form and found exactly what I needed… Free! Booyah! So I now have a fancy custom order form which can be accessed here (through Facebook) or here (non-Facebook).
Any feedback on the form is greatly appreciated!
Happy Sunday!

Dear internets,
I’m pretty new to this Etsy thing. I’ve got things to sell and I know they’re excellent, but I just think I need more exposure. I’m mostly writing this post to track what I’m up to and hopefully someone can learn from this one day (most likely candidate: Me!) Here’s how I’m getting my things ‘out there’ at the moment:
☁ I am pretty active on Instagram – nearly 450 followers now!
☁ Facebook page has a little under 100 followers, most are people I already know. They’re my best customers til now!
☁ Adding listings almost daily to my Etsy shop
I just wasn’t conviced this was enough, so I’m trying out paid Etsy Search Ads. Maximum of $7 per week – I’ll trial it for a couple of weeks and see what happens there.
I’ve also been making fancy spreadsheets to track all my spendings and profits – I’m yet to break even but I’m working towards that fast!
I wonder if I’m missing something! I’ll just keep chugging away sewing cushions and seeing if anyone wants to hug and hold those things 😀
